Be encouraged! Be uplifted! God is in control. We do our best to bring about change for good, but God promises to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). He has the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; He has the dominion, and He exalts Himself as head over all. (1 Chronicles 29:11)

There is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. They are ministers of God for our good (Romans 13:1, 4). The king's heart is like channels of water in His hand; He turns it wherever He wishes (Proverbs 21:1)

Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? God sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He reduces rulers to nothing. He makes the judges of the earth meaningless. The nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales. He lifts up the islands like fine dust. Why do you say, "My way is hidden from the LORD, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God"? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. Those who wait for Him will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. (cf., Isaiah 40)

There is no god besides our God; It is He who puts to death and gives life. He has wounded and it is He who heals. And there is no one who can deliver from His hand. He sharpens His flashing sword, And His hand takes hold of justice, He will render vengeance on His adversaries, And He will repay those who hate Him. (Deuteronomy 32:39-41) All has been predestined according to His purpose. He works all things after the counsel of His will. (Ephesians 1:11) There is no one like our God. He declares the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done. His purpose will be established, And He will accomplish all His good pleasure. (Isaiah 46:9-10)

Let us Praise the LORD! Let us praise the LORD while we live. Let us sing praises to our God while we have our being. Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. (Psalm 146:1-4)

Our God is gracious to the humble. If He shuts up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if He commands the locust to devour the land, or if He sends pestilence among His people, and His people who are called by His name humble themselves and pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, then He will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin. (2 Chronicles 7:13-15)

Heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Him? And where is a place that He finds rest? For His hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being. But to this one He will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at His word. (Isaiah 66:1-2)

Now then, let us pray for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

There is only one God and Mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5) He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6) And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

For this reason also, God highly exalted Jesus, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God our Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

I hope you find these meditations encouraging. Hope in God! (Psalm 42:11) Our God is in the heavens, He does whatever pleases. (Psalm 115:3). 2020 has certainly been a year filled with surprises and even a few significant disappointments. But God is sovereign. He knows our frame. He is mindful that we are but dust. (Psalm 103:14). May it not be said that we lost faith in Him. May it never be said that we forgot His word or His promises. May we never contemplate giving up hope in our Rock and our Redeemer. When He returns, will He find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:8)
