Grace Bible Church Celebrates Eighth Anniversary
Last month marked the eighth anniversary of the opening of Grace Family Bible Church (commonly referred to as “Grace Church” or "Grace Bible Church") in Heber. Grace Church is a non-denominational Bible Church that began as a church plant arranged by “Grace Advance,” a non-profit ministry associated with Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. Grace Church began with the enthusiastic support of three families residing in Wasatch County and it opened its doors for the first time on March 3rd, 2013. Their current pastor, Tim Cowell, was installed on that day. Grace Church was founded on the belief that the Bible is infallible, and that it alone constitutes God’s word. Some major expository themes emphasized in the church are—the sovereignty of God, the deity of Jesus Christ, God’s gracious atonement for sin, the Cross of Christ, repentance from sin, the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, the importance of faithful participation in a local church, and the sufficiency of the Bible as a standard for faith and practice. The doctrines of Grace Church are derived solely from the Bible and would closely resemble the doctrinal convictions held by Christian Reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, and William Tyndale. Beyond the Reformers, Grace Church’s beliefs would align with the theology of the Puritans like John Bunyan, Richard Baxter, John Owen, Jonathan Edwards, and George Whitefield. More modern pastors and theologians that Grace Church would readily endorse are men like Charles H. Spurgeon, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, R.C. Sproul, Steve Lawson, Paul Washer and John MacArthur. One of the most repeated mottos at Grace Church is—“If you please God, it doesn’t matter who you displease…but if you displease God, it doesn’t matter who you please.” The mission of Grace Church is to glorify God by preaching His Word, discipling His people, evangelizing lost people and exalting Jesus Christ—all by the power of the Holy Spirit. Each weekly church gathering includes time devoted to corporate worship, fellowship, prayer and the preaching ofthe Bible. 2 Grace Church welcomes all people to come and discover God’s simple path to salvation and a transformed abundant life found in the One and only true God, Jesus Christ.
